Having sent an email to Martyn from Rabbit Hole with my Instagram and Website, I have a studio visit lined up for the week commencing 15th May to discuss further details of a work placement there.
This is also a great opportunity to show my work to a studio which I very much admire and would love to have more involvement with.

Design Strategy Presentations — OUGD602
Today was the day of the Design Strategy presentations, and it went just as I'd hoped, it was also great to see what everyone else had been up to this year:

Something More — Workshop — OUGD602
Something more came in to have an informal session with us. It was great to be able to see them after DBA and get to engage further.
The task was to market a new cereal that was different to other conventional cereals, it needed to be marketed towards children, and it needed to be healthy.
Working in a group of 6, we all set about brainstorming, but to add spanners into the works, the guys at SM were incorporating various restrictions and factors that changed the thought process we needed to complete the task:

Conclusion:
Overall, this was a really great experience that has provided me with some vital feedback on how not just myself but how we presented as a collective.

Rob from RAW — Visiting Professional — OUGD603
This was probably one of my favourite talks from a visiting professional, hearing how chilled and laid back your career can be once you are established and have made a name for yourself is certainly refreshing.
However, Rob made it clear that it's not all fun, like when he had to let all of his employees go to start the next chapter in his life. I feel that this talk has helped me get a better idea of the ups and downs I may face upon leaving university, and how anything can happen at any time.

Leeds Print Festival — Talks — OUGD602
Having entered my work to be exhibited at the event, it made it a great excuse to get down and hear the speakers talk.
As this isn't an area of design I wish to get into after university, it certainly changed my perspective on it, making it much more desirable than before.
One area I thoroughly enjoyed was the talk from Marcroy Smith, the director and founder of People of Print, it was great to see someone that struggled on next to nothing whilst working an internship after graduation and just thought they'd set up their own business. It is this attitude of getting the experience before diving into things that I want to follow myself.

DR. ME — Workshop — OUGD602
DR. ME visited today, and I had done something I hadn't done in years, cut and paste.
It was a great way to get back into the experimental roots of design and hold off on a Mac for once.
The task was to create a 'happy accident'. This consisted of cutting and pasting from old magazines and publications to create a small format zine. I must say, this is the quickest ever zine I've produced, it puts into perspective how long the computer can take to use.
It was also nice to get to chat with a pair of good guys, who are certainly great contacts to have post-graduation.
